Today marks 100 days without alcohol for me.  I’m not going to keep counting after this.  But on August 7, 2017, when I decided that I wasn’t going to drink alcohol anymore,  I counted out 100 days on my Iphone and today happens to be the day.  And yes I’m quite proud of that.

I believe you must be the change you wish to see in the world as a wise small man from India once said.  I’d like to see my world, at least the one I can influence, to be a world that is amazing, happy, blessed and filled with purpose.   That is not too much to ask because another small Jewish man told us 2000 years ago that we could ask and it would be given and we could seek and we would find.

The world I want to seek and find is free from any addiction, be it alcohol, social media, prescribed and illegal drugs, need for approval, television…… the list is long.  Alcohol, while not destroying my life, was definitely not helping my life.  So I stopped, just like that.

In truth there’s only one thing I want to be addicted to.  The word, addiction, comes from the word addict, or in latin, addictio.  The word addict means an enthusiastic devotee of a specified thing or activity.  I have decided to be an enthusiastic devotee to love, peace, purpose and the maker of those things, God.  Ultimately, it is what I believe the maker of the heaven and stars would want us to be addicted to.  Love, joy, peace, generosity, kindness, forgiveness……. Yes I’ve decided to be addicted to those things and not my cosmos or glasses of chardonnay.

With God’s grace, I’ll keep striving.  Peace out!
